American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Class
April 27 & 28, 2024
Class Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location: NAS Corpus Christi Bayside Pool
Cost: $50.00
Sign-up and payment of $50 is required by 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Sign-up at the E-Street Gym, bldg. 102
Must complete 7 hours of online class work before the beginning of class on April 27, 2024 and be in attendance each day of class April 27 & 28, 2024.
Open to all personnel with base access.
A minimum of 4 participants is required for class to take place.
Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding Course receive an American Red Cross Certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED which is valid for 2 years.
Swim Test on April 27, 2024 at Bayside Pool at 0800 (must pass to proceed):
No refund of payment with failure of swim test (non-refundable).
Must be 16 years of age and be able to pass the prerequisites.
· Must complete 300 yards swim continuously.
· Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs.
· Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds:
· Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface, dive to a depth of 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object.
· Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on back to return to the starting point.
· Exit water without using ladder or steps.
